www.asociaceproducentu.cz

The Audiovisual Producers’ Association (APA) was established in 1994 and associates producers and production companies both in the sphere of Czech film and in the sphere of film services and advertising.
APA currently has over fifty members that are associated in two sections.

The main objectives of the association's activities are the protection and promotion of the producers’ interests and dealing with the professional unions, copyright organisations or bodies of the state administration.

The association also cooperates when resolving legal and tax issues related to the production of films and participates in the creation of legislative norms in this area.

The Association of producers is a member of the international producer organisations FIAPF and CFP-E.

The Czech Film Center was established on the initiative of the Audiovisual Producers’ Association. Even though the APA does not contribute to financing the CFC's activities at the current time, both organisations continue to cooperate closely, particularly in the area of legislation, the conception of cinematographic policy and also in the organisation of professional seminars for film professionals.

The Czech Film Center cooperates with the Czech Centres on both a general level (providing information on current film productions, the distribution of CFC promotional materials through the CCs) and on concrete events with specific centres (the organisation of film shows – Germany, Austria, Argentina)

Institute of Documentary Film

www.docuinter.net

The Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) is a non-profit organisation, oriented on the support of independent and creative documentary films and their promotion on a European level. It turns to independent producers and authors to help with the creation, promotion and distribution of their documentary output. IDF promotes the role of the documentary film as a society’s reflex response and as an exchange of opinions – it strives to bring it closer to the viewer. IDF systematically cooperates with leading European organisations, educational institutes, television stations, distributors and producers.

Each autumn in Prague, CFC and IDF jointly organise (along with the International Documentary Film Festival Jihlava) the Presentation of Documentary Projects in Preparation, where producers and directors present their documentary projects in preparation. A Czech-English brochure containing information on the documentary projects in various states of preparation is also issued to go with the event.

The International Documentary Film Festival Jihlava (IDFF Jihlava) is the largest festival of documentary films in Eastern Europe. It has been an annual event since 1996 and takes place at the end of October, presenting documentary films from all over the world including retrospectives and portraits. The Czech Joy section, which presents new Czech documentaries, is an important part of the festival. Among other things, an exchange of documentary film themes takes place during the festival, organised by the Institute of Documentary Film. Thus the Jihlava festival is a superb platform for the documentary film market and for the search for potential foreign partners for new projects.

Thanks to considerable foreign participation, it is a great opportunity for Czech and foreign professionals to meet and also for raising the profile of new Czech productions.
