Grants in the Czech republic
Czech Republic State Fund for Support and Development of Cinematography
The Czech Republic State Fund for Support and Development of Cinematography is a tool providing public support for film and for the technical advancement and modernization of cinemas. Grants can be used for creating a Czech cinematographic work (only for writing screenplays) or for producing and distributing Czech films. The fund also participates in co-financing projects promoting cinematography (festivals, presentations abroad) and the above-mentioned modernization of cinemas.
The deadlines for applications are set by the Fund Council twice per year, March 31 and October 10. The applications are reviewed and evaluated by the Council, which has ten elected members who serve four-year terms. The Council has a quorum when more than half of the members are in attendance. A Council Resolution is adopted when over half of the members in attendance vote for it. Votes regarding support are always secret.

MEDIA Distribution
Support for the distribution of new European films in cinemas. Applications for support may be submitted by any European company engaged in distributing films to cinemas. There are several forms of support.
Automatic support: Based on box-office receipts from the previous year, a “potential fund” is created for the distributor. The distributor must then use the funds from the potential fund for co-producing a European film abroad, acquiring distribution rights for foreign European films (minimum guarantee), subtitling, producing distribution copies or promoting a foreign European film (P&A costs).
Selective support: Support for concrete films. The support can cover up to 50 percent of the distribution costs. Selective support is provided to groups of at least five distributors from different countries who undertake to jointly screen at least one foreign film in their distribution territories.
On-line distribution: Support for projects aimed at on-line distribution of European audiovisual content in the form of video-on-demand or digital cinema distribution. Any independent European company engaged in production, distribution, running cinemas (cinema chains) or digitization (aggregators) may apply for support.

RWE & Barrandov Studio Film Foundation
The RWE & Barrandov Studio Film Foundation was established for the purpose of supporting Czech audiovisual works and their creators in literary development of feature-length fiction films, and to help find a way to realize such projects. The foundation holds a competition twice each year to select recipients of support for screenwriting development of film projects. Based on the applications submitted to these competitions, the foundation bestows contributions for creating, finishing, or revising selected screenplays.
