Description
The Czech Lion Award is symbolised by a crystal statue of a lion and is handed out in several categories. The films are rated on the basis of voting by a panel of judges which is made up of members of the Czech Film and Television Academy, which has dozens of members, primarily from the ranks of actors, filmmakers and critics.
The actual awards ceremony is preceded by a nomination evening during which the films that will soon be competing for the Czech Lion Awards are announced. The awards ceremony takes place at the beginning of the year, with those films that premiered in the previous year being judged.
