Synopsis
The story of Lena and An is an universal story about human life, badly grasped opportunities, the chance to live a life that’s rich and the way to achieve this. Lena and An, one of them on the verge of a breakdown, the other still full of strength. Lena the Crofter walks the way of evil, after meeting a talking cock. An comes to the area and meets the Healer. The only thing he longs for after that is to become his apprentice. Our protagonists’ stories intertwine and also get involved in other characters’ stories. And above all this human “swarming” stands Lenin, the evil whisperer, the cock. We are beyond time and space. Our protagonists are set in a concrete, yet internalised landscape, where the major role is played by nature, which creates the character of the space and reflects the people’s emotions. Life in the community of village neighbours and their families is parallel to the life of the nature. Warmth and openness of relationships stand against lack of privacy and individuals deprived of a chance to decide. Intuition, animality, the sacral moment and demons sleeping inside us. The Cock screenplay is inspired by a ballad, later re-written and adapted by Jiří Mahen as a dark fairy-tale, “The Crofter and the Cock”.
