Synopsis
The first independent Czech movie following the nationalization of the Czech film industry in 1945. This Bonton production of the Josef Škvorecký's novel of the same name emphasizes its commercially powerful motifs. Set in the fifties, the story of soldier Danny Smiřický and his friends FROM the base takes place in an era when the absurdity of life was lightened by coarse humor and erotic adventures. Director Vít Olmer's Tank Battalion was the most popular Czech film of the 1990s.
