Synopsis
Zdeněk Zelenka's big-production fairy tale is based on the story 'Intelligence and Luck' by Karel Jaromír Erben. The filmmakers spice up the conflict between these two personifications by adding a third: Envy (played by the delightful Jiřina Bohdalová). The film, a box office hit, tells the story of a country boy named Matěj who suddenly 'gains his wits' and asks for the princess's hand, at the same time her royal father has been deprived of reason.
