Synopsis

The film's mosaic of stories employs concrete, authentic details to recreate events that took place in a certain small town between 1989 and 1995. The strange reality of the Czech's recent past is the focus: newly arrived freedom worked its magic and confusion on a population wholly unprepared for it. The film peers into the microcosm of life in this small regional center where Communism has just ended. It vividly portrays the hurdles the unexpected advent of freedom found in its way. People were suddenly asked to cope with freedom in the same way they had dealt with decades of totalitarianism: those who had taken the greatest advantage of it then ended up doing so now.
