Synopsis

The Hradcany district of Prague. A 16th century building, which abuts the Foreign Ministry, is one of the few places in the area still inhabited by its original, pre-Revolution tenants. The owner, however, has decided to sell the building, and all of its occupants, including the director of the film, will have to move out. After reconstruction, the building will serve as luxury hotel apartments, perhaps with units for EU administrators. The documentary Soldcaptures the limbo of uncertainty in the period prior to moving out; each tenant must come to terms with the situation in his or her own way. The mysterious owner of the building, Mr. Hulicius, emigrated to West Germany before the 1948 Communist takeover.
There, in the 1970s, he acted in an instructional film on hair transplants. This unigue archive material creates part of the film Sold: The tragedy of one house – the tragicomedy of one head.
