Synopsis
A film about history, great and small. A portrait of a woman who came to Czechoslovakia with the Soviet Army in the 1970s; she ended up in the Northern Bohemian town of Děčín and there remained. She just wanted a happy and satisfied life, to shun poverty and be well-off. After the 1989 Revolution, she realized that her happiness meant unhappiness for others, but she finds it hard to come to terms with this fact. The film portrays her story from 1972 to the present. Mrs. Raya came to Czechoslovakia as a nurse. At the gate to the barracks, a soldier said to her: “Another whore has arrived!” “I’m not a whore!” But a roommate told her: “Don’t worry, you will be!!!” And she was. She withstood everything so that she and her family wouldn’t have to worry about money. After her sixyear residency permit was up, she had two choices: to return to the Soviet Union or get married. She chose the latter, marrying a man at whose table she chanced to sit down. After 1989 she saw a TV movie about the occupying army – her army. It broke her. “But Russians are not such bastards!” To this very day she cannot accept the fact that she was one of the intruders.
