Czech Film Festival in Athens

Prague, June 3, 2010 – The Days of Contemporary Czech Cinema, featuring four Czech films made between 1999 – 2007, is set to open tonight in Athens. Three of the movies on the bill have never before been screened in Greece.

The festival takes place in the Greek Film Archive’s newly opened outdoor theater Lais, which is located by the Archive’s terrace and opens at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3 with
Alice Nellis’ Little Girl Blue (2007). The screening will be preceded by a cocktail party in the cinema. The other films presented are Cosy Dens (Jan Hřebejk, 1999), Zelary (Ondřej Trojan, 2003) and Wrong Side Up (Petr Zelenka, 2005). Kolekce filmů tematicky postihuje současnost i minulost České republiky a řeckému publiku přiblíží její současnou společenskou, politickou a kulturní realitu. The collection of films captures life the Czech Republic in both the past and present and presents Greek audiences views of contemporary societal, political and cultural reality in the country.

The event is organized by the Czech Embassy in Greece, Czech Film Center and the Greek Film Archive with the support of VIAMAR AE and KORONA Travel - I.SIAMOS, Ltd.
