Press Release2004 Catalogue and DVD of Czech Film Released
Prague, 7 January 2005 – Czech Film Center (CFC) continues its publishing activities this year and is gearing up to present its brand new catalogue and DVD of Czech film for 2004. This year green was chosen not just for the catalogue and DVD, but also for CFC’s newsletters and other publications in 2005.
CFC aims to continue its series of annual catalogues mapping Czech film production in the given year and informing about upcoming premieres, which help promoters to arrange and plan film screenings at leading film festivals in Europe and elsewhere.
The catalogue is divided into 4 sections – feature films (18) and documentaries (7) that premiered in 2004, selected short and animated films (10), and films planned for release in 2005 (18). Listed for each film is a synopsis, technical information, and contact info for the producer or distributor. For films released in 2004, brief biographies of the directors and lists of their films so far are also presented. The catalogue is bilingual with all information presented in Czech and English. Besides information on the films, readers will also find selected statistics and important contact info for production companies, sellers, distributors, and Czech film festivals and film schools.
Besides that, in 2005 we will keep with tradition and release our annual DVD of Czech Film for 2004, which has become a sought-after medium among both domestic and international industry professionals and, thanks to the trailers and interviews with directors, is the perfect multimedia supplement to our classic catalogue. The DVD contains information on 18 feature-length films released in the Czech Republic in 2004, including selected film events in the Czech Republic. The DVD is naturally in Czech and English. The catalogue can be downloaded from http://www.filmcenter.cz.
Both the catalogue and the DVD will be officially released on February 14th at the Berlin International Film Festival following the panel discussion Telling, Writing, Visualizing: Czech Writers/Directors on Contemporary Storytelling on the topic of scriptwriting in contemporary Czech film, which will take place at the Czech Center in Berlin.
