Two Czech Films Competing in Moscow IFF
17 – 26 June 2005
Prague, 16 June 2005 – The 27th annual Moscow International Film Festival opens tomorrow with two Czechs films in competition. The first, Petr Zelenka’s latest film, Wrong Side Up (Příběhy obyčejného šílenství – CR, Germany, 2005), will compete among the seventeen films in the festival’s main competition section.The second, Shark in the Head (Žralok v hlavě – CR, 2005), the debut of young Czech director Marie Procházková, will compete against eight others in the second competition section – “Perspectives,” which focuses on debuts and films experimenting with the language of film. Slovak director Juraj Jakubisko, a resident of Prague, is a member of the jury for this section.
Czech cinematography will also be represented in the festival’s non-competition sections by the films Post Coitum (Juraj Jakubisko, CR, 2004), Lovers and Murderers (Milenci a vrazi – Viktor Polesný, CR, 2004), and Filip Renč’s latest feature, From Subway with Love (Román pro ženy – CR, 2005).
