The Ironic Curtain - Retrospective of Czech Films, New York, October 23rd - 29th
A series of screenings of fifteen Czech films will open in New York on Friday, October 23, with the North American distribution premiere of Pavel Koutecký and Miroslav Janek’s documentary Citizen Havel. “The Ironic Curtain” series will run until October 29 at the Walter Reade Theater, located in the heart of Manhattan and operated by the prestigious Film Society of Lincoln Center, and feature screenings of The Return of the Idiot, Divided We Fall, Some Secrets, The Karamazovs, Empties, The Ferrari Dino Girl and others.
The feature films and documentaries will be presented by personalities from Czech film, culture and politics, such as actress Aňa Geislerová, director Petr Zelenka, Empties producer Eric Abraham, FAMU Dean Pavel Jech, musician Iva Bittová, Consul General in New York Eliška Žigová, and Martin Palouš, Ambassador Extraordinary of the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN in New York.
The Ironic Curtain is hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center (http://www.filmlinc.com) in cooperation with Czech Film Center, the Czech Center in New York and the Czech National Film Archives.
