In an out-of-the-way village somewhere in northern Moravia people live lives detached from the rest of the world and its revolutionary changes. A newly come-of-age forest worker named Kaja is too simpleminded and timid to communicate with others. No one has any idea how badly Kaja wants to win Bozhka’s heart. Bozhka, a young woman who works at a grocery stand, is dating Lada. He’s a local Mr. Cool who unabashedly worships Michael Jackson, and so it seems that Kaja hasn’t got a chance. But relations between Bozhka and Lada are not as idyllic as they at first seem. Bozhka soon becomes aware of her ever-increasing need for true emotion, something the immature Lada will never be able to provide. The web of relationships, secret love, and hidden aversions creates a portrait whose meaning eludes even the characters themselves.
