At this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, Milada Těšitelová’s feature-film debut, Animal, was selected for the Talent Project Market, a joint initiative of Berlinale Talents and the Berlinale Co-production Market, designed for up-and-coming producers seeking partners and coproducers. The film, about a woman who gives birth to a cat in the suburbs full of perfect families, is produced by Julie Marková Žáčková (Unit+Sofa). Films participating in Talent Projects are considered an “insider tip” – especially for producers interested in new talent who are keen on getting involved in projects at an earlier stage.
The new collection of Czech Short Films is ready to be explored by film industry players worldwide. Film curators, distributors, sales agents, broadcoasters or VOD representatives are invited to check the best short films from Czech Republic in one place. Films which already premiered at big festivals like Berlinale, Locarno and others, as well as the new films waiting for their international release.
Even though it may not appear so, in 2022, Czech cinema, despite strong international competition, at least partially returned to normal, both in terms of attendance at domestic cinemas and participation at foreign film festivals.
