At the 32nd Czech Lion Awards, Jiří Mádl’s historical drama Waves dominated the evening, winning Best Feature Film along with five other awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. The prestigious ceremony celebrated the finest achievements in Czech cinema, with I'm Not Everything I Want to Be by Klára Tasovská winning Best Documentary Film and Pavla Beretová earning Best Actress in a Leading Role for Year of the Widow. Among other highlights, the Magnesia Award for Best Student Film went to Pola Kazak for her animated short Weeds, showcasing emerging filmmaking talent.

At the 32nd Czech Lion Awards held on March 8, 2025, Jiří Mádl's drama Waves emerged as the most celebrated film, securing six awards out of its 14 nominations. The film, set against the backdrop of the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, won Best Feature Film, with Mádl receiving accolades for both Best Director and Best Screenplay. Additionally, Tatiana Pauhofová and Stanislav Majer were honored for their supporting roles. Finally, Viktor Ekrt was recognized for Best Sound.

Producer Monika Kristlová, upon accepting the Best Feature Film award, emphasized the significance of public media during the 1968 events, expressing appreciation for the continued presence of public service media in the Czech Republic.

Girl America by Viktor Tauš was also among the evening's notable winners, securing three awards out of its 13 nominations, including Best Cinematography, Best Stage Design, and Best Costumes.

Klára Tasovská's celebrated documentary I'm Not Everything I Want to Be won the award for Best Documentary Film. Aditionally, Alexander Kashcheev won the Best film editing. The impressive portrait of Czech photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková, consisting of thousands of her own photos, has also been recognized internationally, receiving honors such as the Innovation Award at the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montreal and the Erste Bank Film Award at the Viennale.

The Magnesia Award for Best Student Film was presented to Pola Kazak for her film Weeds. This award, established to support and motivate emerging filmmakers, is a collaborative effort between Mattoni 1873, the Czech Film and Television Academy (ČFTA), and the Czech Audiovisual Fund.
